Who am I supposed to be? Who tells me who I am? There is direct connection between how we perceive ourselves and the degree of freedom we experience as a result of that perception. We spend so much time trying to impress people as a way to gain their acceptance and approval that we lose track of our identity in the process. There is almost a desperation in the air of wanting to be known.?Just?not the real us. We want to be approved of by how much we have, how good we look, or what it is we do. So we strive and we struggle. We wear ourselves out. It’s as if we are starting without an identity and must create one as we go, hoping and praying that others will like who we become.
But that line of thinking is?backwards. Seeing this for what it is is critical. It’s one of the reasons that?Love Sung was?written. There is a truth centuries old and it is this: what we believe to be true (whether true or not) about who we are really matters, because our actions and behaviors follow in lock step with those beliefs. Work backwards from any action you take and you’ll find a belief that triggered it, good or bad. Improper beliefs lead to a life being controlled by them.
Well… how would your life change if you knew for certain who you truly are, what you are called to do, and where you are called to be? What if you removed the desire to become somebody because you knew without a doubt that?you already are somebody? What if you knew you were loved. Like really loved. Not based on your behavior, but based on your position as a child of a King. What if God is?waiting for you to be the real you… the one He created you to be, so He could call you into your next adventure. What if He is waiting to spend time with you, listening for your voice so He can respond to your real needs in His perfect love and amazing grace.
You see, you are born with a song within you, uniquely yours, created by God, restored in you by Jesus, and designed to be sung out by you in partnership with the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. Your song cries out to be heard; by God and by those around you.
Love Sung is a 31 day devotional. It tackles the topic of identity in Christ by inviting the reader into a deeper conversation with the Holy Spirit, who communicates with us the truth of who we are in Love. Unless you intentionally choose to plug your ears, it will be next to impossible for you to not hear from Him through this book, which is really just?a tool to start a conversation. A conversation that many so desperately desire, yet have been told that it’s out of reach because of their past. The world has had its say in who you are up to this point. Why not take a moment or two and hear who your Creator says you are? Once you see, believe, and receive the truth about who you already are in Christ, you will have Love Sung through you. The world needs to hear your song, because your song is His song in you. Are you ready to sing it out?
